clothes hangers

I have always been annoyed when I wanted to hang up my sweaters and T-shirts: getting a hanger through the neckline was always very unsatisfying. Either you have to overstretch the neckline to be able to “force” the hanger through, or you have to laboriously thread the hanger in through the bottom opening.

Despite research, I could not find a good, simple solution on the market.

So I started thinking about solutions myself.

During the “work stoppage” in my industry caused by the coronavirus crisis, I then set to work intensively on finding an everyday-friendly solution.

Now, several years and dozens of prototypes later, I have developed two clothes hangers that do very well what they are supposed to do according to my “extended” definition.

Basically, both hangers look almost like any conventional hanger. The arms can be shaped so that they fit the garment to be hung optimally.

Except: with my hanger the arms can be folded down by a simple mechanism that works with one hand. In this state the arms can easily be pushed through the neckline. With a simple movement of the hand holding the hanger, the arms unfold and stay locked in the end position. With another simple hand movement the lock releases and the arms swing down and away, and the garment slides off the hanger.

Both variants do exactly the same thing, but technically in different ways. I have been using both versions in everyday life for a long time.

Besides this additional function, both versions look beautiful and elegant. Different colour combinations of the “moving and stationary parts” also allow great designs to be created.

Despite their mechanical function they are very robust and can be built with few parts. They can also be stored more compactly when folded together.
